Safety Built Into Every Cycle

Rollstops, Handrails and Manual Backup

Automatic Rollstops. The outboard rollstop at the end of the platform folds flat as a boarding ramp on the ground and rises automatically before the platform lifts, while the inboard rollstop bridges to the vehicle floor at the top. The wheelchair cannot roll off either end while the platform is moving.

Handrails and Non-Skid Surface. Handrails on both towers give the rider a secure hold, and the textured platform surface grips wheels and feet in wet weather.

Manual Backup. If the van’s electrical system fails, a manual hand pump raises the platform and a manual pressure release valve lowers it.

FMVSS 403/404. Platform lifts installed in private-use vans sold in the U.S. must meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards 403 and 404 for platform lift systems and their installation; the Reliant is supplied with Ricon’s FMVSS private-use operator documentation and is installed by trained technicians with a vehicle-specific Ricon kit.

Reliant options: hand-held remote control, internal swing-door operator and sliding-door operator

Controls and Options

Equip the Van for Complete Independence

Pendant Control. A handheld control runs the full cycle: unfold, lower to the ground, raise to floor level and stow. The hydraulic cylinders are powered in both directions, so the platform moves at the same steady pace up and down whether it is carrying a lightweight manual chair or a heavy power chair.

Door Operators. Add a Ricon internal swing-door operator or sliding-door operator and the van door opens and closes itself, so a wheelchair user can enter and leave the vehicle without help.

Remote Control. The optional key-fob style remote control operates the door operator and the lift from outside the van, from your wheelchair.

The Reliant installs in the side or rear door of full-size vans such as the Ford Transit, Ram ProMaster, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Chevrolet Express and Ford E-Series. The installation kit, door opening and interior floor height all depend on the van, so ask our mobility team which platform size and configuration fits your vehicle.
